As a rival to the Sith Lord Marka Ragnos, Sith Lord Simus had high hopes for becoming Dark Lord of the Sith after the reigning Dark Lord's death. However, he found his ambitions thwarted by Ragnos, who was also campaigning for the position.
Challenging Simus to a duel, Marka Ragnos then decapitated his rival and declared himself Dark Lord of the Sith.
But Simus did not die. Using his powrful Sith magic to keep him alive, he remained as a head which rested in a transparent case. Though he coould no longer move and had to be carried by two Sith guards, Simus still carried powerful clout in the Sith empire and his word was respected by all.
When two explorers from the distant Republic invaded the empire, Simus was quick to take action, urging the invaders be destroyed as soon as possible.
However, he did not count on treachery from within. Sith Lord Naga Sadow broke into the invader's prison and carried them off with him. As Simus realized the truth, it was to late. Sith magic was no match for Naga Sadow's Blaster, and Sith Lord Simus met his end.
Marka Ragnos Ninth Dark Lord of the Sith
Marka Ragnos is and still will be an enigma. It is certain that he was the ninth Dark Lord of Sith, controlling the Sith Empire well over two centuries, using his Sith magic. Since he was so powerful in the Dark Side, he was still able to contact others through spirit. When he died, there was a big dispute over who would become the next Dark Lord of Sith. Various Sith Lords arose, but two stood out among the rest: they were Ludo Kressh and Naga Sadow. The two Lords began a horrific duel to the death to determine who would rule as the next Dark Lord. Meanwhile, Lord Ragnos roaming around, interrupted the battle. He told them of the ancient times, that their ancestors were once mighty Jedi of the Republic, brothers in the Force until the great schism between the Dark Side and the Light Side turned Jedi against Jedi. Ragnos warned the two that changes were coming. He cautioned them to combine their mights and fight together in the right battles, or else the beloved Sith Empire would be doomed to fall. And with this, he disappeared for an unknown amount of millenia. However, the two Dark Lord candidates began dueling, once more. When Exar Kun and Ulic Qel-Droma dueled, Marka Ragnos reappeared in spirit and pronouned Exar Kun as the twelfth Dark Lord of Sith and Ulic as the apprentice Dark Lord. Other information about this Dark Lord were destroyed and/or hidden by the Jedi and the Sith. Thus, both his life and death are still unknown to the public.
Naga Sadow Tenth Dark Lord of the Sith
Naga Sadow was one of the few who came from the elite priesthood of pure Sith blood. On Korriban, at the funeral for the late Dark Lord of Sith, Marka Ragnos, he became one of the two Sith Lords who fought for the title of Dark Lord of the Sith. The two Lords, Naga Sadow and his rival, Ludo Kressh, had different ideas about the future of the Sith Empire. Sadow felt that the Sith Empire was stagnating and should expand its territory, while Kressh wanted a more isolationist approach to governing the Sith Empire. During the duel, Marka Ragnos appeared in spirit and warned the two that this was the Golden Age of the Sith, and that they should coose their paths wisely or else the glorious Sith Empire would fall. However, they continued to fight to the death. The on-going and raging duel was suddenly interrupted by the arrival of Gav and Jori Daragon, who had accidently hyperspaced into the wrong place. Here, again, the two rivals had different opinions. Ludo Kressh wanted them executed as precursors to an invasion by the Old Republic, but Sadow saw it as an oportunity to expand the Sith Empire. The two unlucky explorers waited in the underground dungeon of Ziost, without hope, waiting to be executed. But the twins did not realize that they had become pawns of a vying Sith Lord. Lord Naga Sadow had begun and completed a devious plot: a prison break. With his fierce Massassi warriors, Sadow secretly stole strange Republic weaponry from Gav and Jori's impounded ship, Starbreaker 12, and staged a commando raid to free the prisoners, killing the great Sith Lord, Ancient Simus, in the process. Sadow then took them to his private fortress.
Seeing the weapons, and technology, the Sith Lords assumed that they had been attacked by Republic forces, with an imminent invasion at hand. In great anger, a common characteristic of the Sith, they turned to the candidate Naga Sadow for leadership and named him the Dark Lord of the Sith. Amidst Sadow's celebration an outraged Ludo Kressh stormed off, taking his supporters with him. After intense investigation, Lord Kressh discovered Sadow's trickery. He vowed to fight to save the Sith Empire from the Sadow's reckless actions and mounted an armed rebellion against the evil Dark Lord. Sadow learned of the imminent attack and thus indirectly directed the rebels to a decoy fortress on Khar Delba. While attacking Sadow's decoy fortress, they missed the real their real target, Sadow's secret fortress on Khar Shian, the moon of Khar Delba. Thus, Kressh had walked right into an ambush set by the Dark Lord. With Ludo Kressh out of the way, Naga Sadow rallied all the Sith Lords for the coming crusade. True to his ideas, the new Dark Lord planned to launch a campaign aimed at the Old Republic. During Kressh's attack, Sadow had tricked Jori into fleeing back to the Republic without her brother, who was being held elsewhere. Before her flight, he had secretly implanted a bug on her ship and thus, she inadvertantly began the Great Hyperspace War, leading the forces of Sith right to the Old Republic. Amidst all this, Lord Sadow had begun teaching the black arts of Sith to the Force-sensitive Gav. Pleased with his rapid learning and because he had unique knowledge of the Old Republic, Sadow gave him command of a Sith fleet. Now Sadow could watch war from his meditation sphere orbiting the unstable red giant, Primus Goluud, where he would use forbidden Sith magic to rally his forces and create the illusion of a much more massive force than it actually was. But Gav had grudgingly accepted and by and by, he could not stand being the commander of such death and destruction. And so, when he was told to command a huge invasion fleet, the young apprentice turned on his master. The tide of the war quickly turned, even more so, when Gav fatally damaged Lord Sadow's meditation sphere. This caused the Dark Lord's great Massassi armies to lose immensely due to lack of morale. And finally, Republic sent out a fleet to search and destroy the devastated Naga Sadow.
But, using his immense Sith powers, Sadow nudged the unstable Primus Goluud star to supernova, hiding his escape back to the Sith Empire. However, in Sadow's absence, survivng and filled with even more hating than ever, Ludo Kressh had taken control of the Sith Empire and had his fleet waiting for Sadow's return. And so, Sadow returned as an exiled man and came out of hyperspace, right into Kressh's trap. Naga Sadow turned and fled, regrouping with his followers. Kressh pursued the fleeing Sadow, only to a big surprise. The new Dark Lord came onto a huge fleet, awaiting his arrival. And thus, Kressh's fate was sealed. His fleet was no match for Sadow's devastated but infinitely stronger fleet. In the ensuing battle, he ordered one of his ships to ram into the enemy mothership, the ship which Lord Kressh was on. Thus, the Eleventh Dark Lord of Sith was killed and Naga Sadow rejoiced. However, his joy was shortlived, because almost immediately, a joint-fleet of Republic ships and ships of Empress Teta arrived to destroy Sadow and his devastated fleet. The Dark Lord fled across the galaxy, finally ending up at Denarii Nova, and waited there to engage the huge fleet. But, Sadow realized he had some Sith followers on some of their ships. He ordered them to attack their lords, in the name of Sith. And thus, Lord Sadow was able to escape, destroying the supernova-ing the double star Denarii Nova and its entire star system in the process.
Sadow next destination was the Yavin system, on Yavin IV. He landed with his followers, whom he warped with Sith magic to become the new race of Massassi. Sadow used his dark powers and Sith amulet to make monstrous creatures of nightmare and then hid these beasts to guard against any intruder into his domain.
Ludo Kressh Eleventh Dark Lord of the Sith
Ludo Kressh was a powerful Sith Lord. After the death of the Ninth Dark Lord, Marka Ragnos, Ludo Kressh thought that he was the best Sith Lord to succeed as next Dark Lord of the Sith. When he arrived at Korriban to relay his grief to the late Dark Lord of Sith, he noticed that his arch-rival, Naga Sadow, was not there. He now indeed believed himself the rightful successor. Leading the funeral procession, Kressh followed the traditonal rituals to the strictest detail. Rudely arriving late, Naga Sadow was bold enough to claim the title of Dark Lord at the end of the funeral service. This was the last straw. Lord Kressh believed that Sadow would lead the Sith Empire to doom. An isolationist, Kressh believed that the Sith Empire was perfectly good as it was, exactly contrary to Sadow's imperialistic beliefs. Naga Sadow wanted expansion and more conquest. Furious, he challenged Sadow to a duel, but both were interrupted when the spirit of Ragnos appeared to them, cautioning them and urging them to strengthen the Sith empire rather than engage in combat. But nevertheless, the two continued to fight to the death. Their duel was intterupted by the arrival of two twins, Gav and Jori Daragon. Kressh believed that this was a precursor to a massive invasion by the Old Republic and had them sentenced to death. He then promptly began to strengthen the Sith forces. However, the devious Sadow skillfully executed a jail break, making it look like an attempt by the Old Republic to jab at the Sith Empire. The Sith Lords were thrown into an uproar because they believed that the Republic had acted without provocation and that invasion was imminent. They named Naga Sadow as the Dark Lord of Sith instead of Kressh. Fuming with anger, Kressh stormed off with his followers. After intense investigation, he discovered Sadow's trickery. Kressh mounted an armed rebellion against the Dark Lord, vowing to fight to save the Sith Empire from Sadow's reckless plans. But the Dark Lord knew of the plot and ambushed the rebels. Thus, with them out of the way, he could now concentrate on the current war, the Great Hyperspace War. But, unknownst to Lord Sadow, Ludo Kressh had narrowly escaped and was beginning to plot again.
With nearly the entire Sith fleet under Sadow's command off to conquer the inner worlds of the Republic, Kressh saw his chance. He named himself the true Dark Lord of Sith. However, Sadow returned, limping back to his beloved Empire. But, he found himself an outlaw, pursued relentlessly by Ludo Kressh's troops. But Sadow was a better tactitian than Kressh and the ensuing battle between the fresh, but small forcecs of Ludo Kressh, and the depleated, but bigger fleet of Naga Sadow's, Lord Kressh was doomed to fall. Sadow ordered Kressh's ship to be rammed, and thus, in the following explosion, Ludo Kressh was assassinated.
Freedon Nadd Sith Lord
At first, Freedon Nadd was a Jedi Knight, but like many, he was seduced by the Dark Side of the Force. He became one of the most powerful Sith Lords that ever existed. The ambitious Lord hoped to become the next Dark Lord of the Sith. And so, he apprenticed himself to a Dark Lord of Sith. Soon, he began to see that he would have no chance at being a Dark Lord, as long as his master lived. Thus, wanting a world to conquer and rule over, Freedon Nadd left his homeworld and arrived at Onderon, an obscure planet, soon to become one of the most notorious planets in the galaxy. There, on Onderon, he made himself the first King. Onderon soon became the central focus of Dark Side power and many Force users were drawn there, with Freedon Nadd's powerful use of Sith magic. When Nadd died, his followers mummified his deceased body and buried it in an unknown tomb, on Onderon. But even after his death, the spirit of Freedon Nadd kept Onderon as a planet, strong with the Dark Side of the Force. He did this by teaching each and every successive ruler in the ways of the Sith, through spirit. His secret tomb soon was discovered and it became a place of great evil. Alot of the Dark Side was concentrated there. However, the reign of Sith rulers was ended when the Jedi sent Ulic Qel-Droma and two other Knights to negotiate. They interceded in the Beast Wars of Onderon and also quelled the Freedon Nadd Uprising. His coffin was then moved to and hidden on the Dxun moon. Hundreds of years later, Exar Kun, a Jedi, captivated by the mystery and power that the Sith had, was led to the moon by Nadd's followers. Upon entering, found Nadd's spirit lurking around in his secret tomb. Nadd convinecd the Jedi to turn completely to the Dark Side. Once that happened, he showed Kun the secrets of the Sith on Korriban and Yavin 4. The spirit Nadd ordered that Kun take the Sith scrolls inside the tomb that would give him much power. But, unbeknownst to Exar Kun, Nadd's plan was to use him to become a physical shap (body) so he could rule Onderon once more. However, Kun soon learned about his master's scheming and, with an amulet of Sith, destroyed the Sith Lord. The great powers of Sith turned against him, even Freedon Nadd's spiritual body died, ending the life of Nadd, forever.
Exar Kun Twelfth Dark Lord of the Sith
Exar Kun was a Jedi Knight, apprenticed to Jedi Master Vodo-Siosk Baas. He was an ambitious young Knight, who's curiousity could be heightened at the slightest thing. His Jedi training, however, still could not hold back his curiosity. Intrigued by the mystique which the Dark Side offered, Exar Kun began using Master Baas' Holocron, revealing and investigating the ancient lore and religion of the Sith. Soon, Kun's curiousity got a hold of him and it turned into an obsession. He became partially seduced by the Dark Side and let himself be led to the planet Korriban, where the spirit of Freedon Nadd enticed him to let the dark powers of the Sith enter him. Back on his home planet, Kun became so obsessed that it caused him to unleash his anger upon one of his fellow students and eventually his own master. His master was afraid for Kun and told him to turn back to the Light Side. When it was apparent that Kun was obsessed with the Sith, Master Baas challenged Kun to a duel. The young and inexperienced Kun was no match for the veteran and expert Jedi Master. Thus, Kun left his master to pursue the Sith teachings of Freedon Nadd, whose followers had just been put down following the Freedon Nadd Uprising.
There, the surviving followers of Freedon Nadd led Exar Kun to the Dxun moon where he came upon Nadd's spirit, which was roaming around in his tomb, waiting for someone to come in. Seeing the ambitious young rogue Jedi, Nadd knew that this was his chance. He enticed the young man with visions of glory, promises of riches, and power. However, his true plot was soon uncovered by Kun. Nadd, once being one of the most feared Sith Lords in the galaxy, had actually been planning on taking over Kun's body, so that he may get another chance to rule Onderon and the galaxy, itself. So, Kun left for Yavin IV, but upon landing, he realized that Nadd had come first. Nadd confronted Kun and offered his help to find Naga Sadow's hidden domains. Kun refused. Soon, Exar Kun came upon one of Sadow's domain. Little did he know that Sadow had left behind mutated Massassi- called Massassi Beasts. Their only purpose to life was to guard and protect Naga Sadow's realms of darkness. They trapped and captured Kun and began to prepare to slowly kill their prisoner. However, much to Kun's luck, one of them was so anxious that he broke the rules and attacked Kun alone. Exar Kun then, through the Dark Side, wrenched Sadow's Sith amulet from the hands of the Massassi guardian and used it to kill the monster. When Freedon Nadd tried to gain access into Kun's body, Kun used the amulet and destroyed the Sith Lord forever. The Massassi Beasts realized that this man was very powerful and pledged their allegiance to him. Thus, gaining thousands of fresh, fierce, and loyal troops, Kun was very satisfied. Knowing that there was no return to the Light Side, Kun enslaved the Massassi people and built vast and tall temples as focal points of the Dark Side (Later on, during the Galactic Civil War, the Rebels who were based on Yavin IV could feel a strange and powerful evil emanating from some of the temples, and soon restricted themselves to normal temples.).
Then, after completing that project, he traveled to Ossus. There he confronted Jedi Master Odan-Urr in the Library of Ossus, and killed him. He took the Sith Holocron from the Library, so that he could study and greaten his Sith powers. He also believed that whoever held the Sith Holocron could well recruited Dark Jedis. And so, he gained alot more of Sith in his ranks. Very soon, however, he heard that an imposter had declared himself the new Dark Lord of Sith. He was located in the Sith citadel of the Empress Teta system. And so, Kun and his Massassi guards arrived. The "imposter" was Ulic Qel-Droma, a Sith Lord, well trained in darkness. Not wanting to let Kun get an easy kill, he challenged Exar Kun to a duel. Both were extremly powerful and were experts in swordcraft causing neither to gain an advantage. Then, Marka Ragnos appeared to them, in spirit. He announced a new era for the Sith and declared that Exar Kun would be the Dark Lord of Sith and that Ulic Qel-Droma would be the Dark Lord's Apprentice. Kun's old foe, a Sith Lord named Crado, soon came to terms with the new Dark Lord of Sith and banded together, adding a large army of Sith, to Kun's already vast army. With the help of Qel-Droma, Kun gained even more followers, as the Krath ruler Aleema Keto, and the warlord Mandalore, joined. Seeing that his army had grown considerably stronger and powerful, he decided to attack the Old Republic.
Kun split his troops between himself and Qel-Droma, and launched what was soon to become a notorious and bloody war: the Sith War. While Ulic and Mandalore waged a huge military battle against Republic outposts, shipyards, and Republic planets, Kun seduced and brought new Jedis to the Dark Side. With his new Sith warriors, Kun began to wage a secret war against what he declared to be aging and outdated Jedi: the Jedi Masters. Exar Kun ordered his new Dark Jedis to kill their Jedi Masters. And so, a great many Masters perished. However, during the attack on Coruscant, Aleema Keto betrayed Ulic Qel-Droma, who was soon captured and later charged with treason against the Republic. But, in the middle of the trial, Kun and Madalore managed to storm the courtroom with thousands of Jedi that were immobilized by Kun's Sith powers, and rescued Qel-Droma. As well as the storming of the courtroom, during the rescue, Exar Kun killed Jedi Master Vodo-Siosk Baas, after he challenged his old master to a rematch, seeking to take revenge of his previous defeat. Afterwards, Kun, Qel-Droma, and Mandalore acted as if they knew nothing about Aleema's betrayal. However, they plotted to take revenge. Later, Exar Kun sent Aleema to Kemplex IX with the intent to ambush the Republic/Jedi forces using an ancient Sith superweapon that was aboard Naga Sadow's ship, recently unearthed from the Yavin temples. Using this superwapon, Aleema ripped the core of one of the ten stars, in the Cron Cluster, and launched it at the incoming Republic fleet. The result was total destruction. The entire fleet was disintegrated. But, as the three leaders had planned, it also caused the star to catastrophically supernova, and subsequently the other 9 stars. The immense explosion obliterated Aleema and Sadow's ship, and also scorched and almost destroyed the nearby planet, Ossus, which was home of the Great Jedi Library.
But not all was perfect. Among the three leaders, Kun believed they had a permanent bond of loyalty. But Kun missed one small detail. Ever since Ulic Qel-Droma had begun to turn to the Dark Side, his brother, Cay Qel-Droma had told him to turn back. One day, after the supernova, Ulic was confronted by his brother and a few other Jedi friends. He became extremely angry, as he found out what their intent was: to turn him back to the Light Side. In his intense fury, Ulic killed his brother. Immediately, he realized what he had done. During this brief moment of shock, his ex-lover, Nomi Sunrider used the Force and cast a spell on him. He became blind to the Force and thus was stripped of his powers. Guiltstricken, he realized his folly and returned to the Light Side. Then, he led an immense Jedi fleet to Kun's base of power on Yavin IV. There the war ended with all the Jedi banding together and laying waste to most of Yavin 4, but not before Exar Kun drained and absorbed the life force of the entire Massassi race to in order to trap and entomb his spirit in a Sith Temple. He remained trapped in temple of Yavin for over 4,000 years while power passed from the Old Republic to the Empire and the Rebel Alliance established a base there. Though using the temples as a military base, the Alliance felt a strange darkness emanating from some of them and were hesitant to enter them. Later when Luke Skywalker established his Jedi Academy on Yavin IV, Kun once again made his bid for galaxy domination by attempting to sway Luke's new trainees to the Dark Side. Kun destroyed one of them, Gantoris and turned Kyp Durron, Luke's best padawan and the strongest in the Force, to the Dark Side. As a self-proclaimed Dark Lord of the Sith, Durron used his dark powers to avenge his family's deaths and to wreak havoc among the Imperial fleets. When Luke Skywalker confronted him, Kyp teemed with anger and, with the help of Exar Kun, almost killed Luke, leaving him in a coma, fighting Exar Kun in the realm of unconciousness. But he did not end the fight before absorbing some amount of what the Jedi Master had said. Kyp soon realized his mistakes and Kun's lies, and returned to the Academy, combining with the other students to free Skywalker and destroy Kun once and for all with the Light Side of the Force. And thus, ended the reign of the Dark Lord of Sith, Exar Kun.
Ulic Qel-Droma Thirteenth Dark Lord of the Sith
Ulic Qel-Droma was born on Alderaan, along with his brother, Cay Qel-Droma. As a padawan, he trained deep within the inhospitable wilds of Arkania, where his master, Jedi Master Arca Jeth, had established a vast Jedi Academy. Here, Qel-Droma soon became notoriously known as the most fearless and bold among Master Jeth's students, among which were his brother, and the Twi'lek Tott Doneeta. One day, as his brother and their Twi'lek friend watched on, Ulic battled with a training droid, armed with a lightsaber. But Ulic let his overconfidence get to him and he soon lost the short battle. After this short spectacle, their master told them to sit down and listen to a story he had to say. And so, that was the first day when Ulic Qel-Droma heard of the planet of Onderon. He told his three greatest students that the Jedi Council had told him to watch over the Onderon system. However, he told them, he was needed to train other students, and so, he would send the trio to Onderon, instead. The three Jedi were jubilant, as they would be able to show off their skills for the first time. And so, the Jedi trio boarded their ship, the Nebulon Ranger, and left for Onderon.
Their objective was to bring peace to the planet of Onderon, which had suffered the raging Beast Wars. Upon their arrival, the trio were taken to a dissapointed Queen Amanoa, who had requested the Jedi Master Jeth. Then, the Queen introduced her daughter, Princess Galia. Ulic took an immediate fondness of the princess. As he tried to strike up a conversation, however, an alarm suddenly spread throughout the palace: several Beast Riders had broken into the citadel. The three Jedi soon found themselves in action, much to their master's chagrin. They had been instructed to only use their mental powers and not use physical intervention. As they armed themselves against the attackers, a bulk of the raiders disembark from their flying Beasts and enter the main palace. Ulic ordered his brother and Doneeta to go after them, but when they reached the Royal Quarters, they discovered that Princess Galia had disappeared. Queen Amanoa cursed the three Jedi Knights for the abduction and ordered them to find her. Ulic immediately obeyed but Cay and Tott believed that they should consult first Master Jeth, because ever since the three entered Iziz, they had sensed dark powers emanating withing the Onderonians.
But Ulic ordered the others to follow him. And so he, Cay, and Tott entered the vast Outlands in search of Galia, in the Nebula Ranger. As the Jedi tried to rescue the princess, they find out that she wished to wed Oron and that they had planned the abduction together. During the festivites that followed, Ulic and his friends are told the true story of Onderon: the city of Iziz was strong with the Dark Side of the Force, with many citizens who worshiped the ways of the ancient Sith Lord Freedon Nadd and the Dark Side. Ulic, now assuming leadership, took Galia and Oron back to Iziz, hoping the marriage between them, a citizen princess and an outcast prince, would cease the civil war. However, the evil Queen Amanoa erupted in rage and summoned the full power of her dark magic. Then, suddenly, the great Beast Rider army attacked. As the battle raged on outside, Queen Amanoa left and entered Sith Lord Nadd's tomb. There, she summoned up all of the Dark Side and through her newly acquired dark powers, she began to manipulate Modon's Riders, sending fear and cowardice into their hearts. The Iziz troops began to win, as their queen's magic began to work. But then, Cay Qel-Droma found the queen, but just as he was about to confront her, her guards came to her rescue. In the ensuing battle, the Jedi Knight Qel-Droma lost his arm. Ulic, arrived too late to save his brother's arm, but came to his rescue, defeating the queen's guards. To his amazement, Ulic's brother told him not to worry about an arm, because it was only an arm. The brave Jedi Knight looked around and saw an old, non-working, XT-G droid. Cay took the droid's arm and used it as his own.
Meanwhile, as the battle between Modon's warrios and the Iziz army raged onward, the Beastm Riders began to quickly lose, as Amanoa's spell begins to work. But then, Master Jeth arrived. He too, meditated and gave the Beast Riders the strength that they needed. After the battle was won by the Beast Riders, Jedi Master Arca Jeth confronted his three apprentices. He was slightly disappointed with Ulic's efforts, but understood the trio's difficulties and obstacles. Then, Arca lead his three Jedi students to the tomb of Freedon Nadd where Amanoa continued to stand, continuing her dark worship, fruitlessly. As Master Jeth used his Jedi powers to extinquish the Dark Side, Queen Amanoa, who had given herself entirely to the Dark Side, was killed. Later, Galia officially married Oron again, resulting in the uniting of the two warring factions. But as the Jedi prepare to leave, Arca Jeth warned his students and the Beast Riders that the Dark Side had not completely left Onderon and told his apprentices to stay there for a little while longer.
When the Freedon Nadd Uprising occured shortly after, the trio, with the help of several other Jedi put down the rebellion. During the war between the Republic and Jedi, and the secret Sith society, the Krath, Ulic took part in the massive assualt by joint Republic-Jedi forces at Koros Major, against the Krath. There he was wounded by shrapnel and infected by Sith magic. Ultimately, the assualt failed, which created great anger within Qel-Droma. Then, Krath leaders, the Sith magicians Satal Keto and Aleema Keto, initiated a surprise attack on the planet Denba, in which the assassination of Master Arca occured. This, along with the failed attack, made Ulic make up his mind. Contrary to the advice and pleas of the Jedi council, Qel-Droma decided to join the Krath and destroy them from the inside. And thus, he set off to the Empress Teta system to destroy the Dark Side from within. While infiltrating the Krath, Satal Keto learned of Ulic's plan and tried to kill him. Satal infected Qel-Droma with Sith poison. However, instead of hurting him, the action only created even more anger within Ulic. A beserk Ulic Qel-Droma, drunk with the Sith poison, killed Satal. And so, as with many unprepared and vulnerable Jedi, Qel-Droma was seduced by the Dark Side and became drunk with Sith magic.
Soon afterwards, he fought a mercenary warlord, Mandalore, at forced confrontation, on the Harkul plains. Mandalore, being the loser, became a willing servent to Qel-Droma and forever served him. Next, when Aleema Keto, now allied with him as well, gave Qel-Droma a Sith amulet she had had, Qel-Droma declared himself the new Dark Lord of Sith. This promptly led to a confrontation by Dark Lord Exar Kun, who believed that Ulic was an imposter. The two began a duel, and, since they both were experts of the black arts and swordfighting, no one had a distinct advantage over the other. However, during the long stalemate-duel, the spirit of Marka Ragnos appeared and declared Kun as the twelfth Dark Lord of Sith and Qel-Droma as the apprentice of the Dark Lord. And so, the two Dark Lords joined forces and fought together to re-establish the glory of the Sith Empire. Thus, Qel-Droma, along with Kun, Aleema, and warlord Mandalore, started the Sith War, in an attempt to reshape the galaxy into the new Golden Age of the Sith. Qel-Droma and Mandalore were given command of the military, by Kun, who busied himself with recruiting Dark Jedis and waging a covert war against the Jedi elders. However, during the assualt on Coruscant, Aleema betrayed Ulic and left him to be captured by the Jedi. Ulic was to be tried for treason against the Republic, along with many other charges, but was rescued by Exar Kun and thousands of Jedis, under a Sith spell, during the trial. In return for her betrayal, Ulic Qel-Droma and Lord Exar Kun, sent the unsuspecting Aleema on a mission that would end in a massive supernova set off by her Sith magic, ultimately destroying her, her ship, and the nearby planet of Ossus.
However, all this time his brother Cay had been trying to convince Ulic to end his contorted mission and return to the Light Side. But that came to an end, when in a fit of rage, filled with Dark Side anger, Ulic killed his own brother. All of a sudden, Ulic fell into shock, as he realized what he had done. Upon witnessing this, Nomi Sunrider, Ulic's ex-lover, used a Jedi power, taught to her by Jedi Master Odan-Urr, and imprisoned Ulic in a Wall of Light, making him blind to the Force. With no connection to the Force, Light or Dark, Ulic realized his faults and began his Redemption by leading the Jedi to Yavin IV so they could destroy Exar Kun. The Jedi brought an immense fleet with them, and there, at Yavin IV, they scorched the entire planet with turbolasers, in hopes of destroying the Dark Lord of Sith, but he avoided them by draining the life energies of the Massassi and encasing himself into a Sith temple.
Darth Bane ???th Dark Lord of the Sith
The great Darth Bane has recently been discovered among the Sith Archives. Details are sketchy, and his image has not yet been discovered. But, some facts have been found.
Darth Bane was a wise Dark Jedi and knew that patience, cunning, stealth, and subterfuge were great virtues. Thus, whilst the Sith Wars were raging on, Darth Bane stood aside and lay in concealment, waiting until the time was right.
Soon, the number of Sith dwindled greatly and the Jedi took advantage of this and pounced upon each individual Dark Jedi, cleaning up after the carnage. Soon, there was no one left, embracing the Dark Side of the Force. Or so they thought.
Soon after the Jedi had proclaimed the death of the Sith, Darth Bane came out of hiding. Since all of his colleagues were destroyed, he declared himself the Dark Lord of Sith and a new Order of Sith. This new order was designed to sustain Sith throughout millenia, having only two Dark Lords of Sith at a time: a Master and an Apprentice. Thus, there would be no inner conflict and they, the Sith, would be able to abide their time until they were able to fight back against the Jedi, whom he proclaimed the true enemy; not fellow Sith.
And thus, Darth Bane created a New Order and helped sustain the Sith throughout the years.
Darth Sidious ???th Dark Lord of the Sith
A native of the planet Naboo, Palpatine worked his way up in politics to become that sector's senator on the Galactic Senate. However, unbeknownst to everyone, Palpatine, being very Force-attuned, had also secretly learned the ways of the Sith and its arts and religion and had become a Dark Lord of Sith: Darth Sidious. Following the traditions of Darth Bane, he apprenticed a Zabrak named Khameir Sarin, who later created the alias, Darth Maul, a terrifying and powerful Dark Lord of Sith. Meanwhile, Palpatine played on both sides to gain all the power he could. As a Dark Lord he began building his dark empire, scheming and causing problems to the rest of the galaxy. As senator he feigned to solve those same problems while at the same time gaining more political support. As Darth Sidious, he used his awesome stature and fear, to cement his position as the secret head of a powerful organization, called the Trade Federation. The Trade Federation was mainly composed of a race called the Neimoudians, tall and calm, but ugly and idiotic as well. Sidious ordered the figurehead of the Federation, Nute Gunray, to cut off all trade with the planet Naboo and begin a trade embargo, for reasons unknown. Becoming a senator, once again, he rallied and argued for the relief and disruption of the blockade. However, the Senate could not decided what to do, since it was weak with corruption, and one side wanted to leave it alone and the other to help Naboo. And so, for safekeeping, they sent two ambassadors to Naboo, to negotiate between the two people. They were two Jedi Knights, Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi. Palpatine therefore became desperate, ordering the invasion of Naboo. What he wanted was the infamous cloning technology which the young ruler, Queen Amidala, used to make a decoy in order to protect herself. The reason he wanted this was so that the resulting turmoil in the Senate would cause Supreme Chancellor Valoorum to be ousted from power, and as such, open the way for Himself, Palpatine, to become Supreme Chancellor. The Federation captured the queen, but the Jedi Knights, who were also ordered killed, escaped from the Neimoudians and came to her rescue. Darth Sidious, enraged that his key witnessess had escaped, realized that the Neimoudians were fools and could not be relied on. He ordered Darth Maul to find the Jedi and kill them. Maul, being a devout Dark Lord, vigorously began to hunt down the small party. He finally found the band on Tatooine. He launched a small surprise attack, on them, just as Jedi Knight Jinn was about to get on board his ship. But Jinn realized what he had come into contact with: a Dark Lord, so fled the duel, by jumping onto the closing platform of the Naboo ship. And so, Maul vowed again, to bring them down.
The two Jedi Knights escorted the Queen to Coruscant, letting her speak in front of the Senate. However, the claim of invasion caused a great division in the Galactic Senate, as some believed Amidala's and Palpatine's plea to help their planet, while others believed that investigation was necessary before action. When the ruling Supreme Chancellor Valorum decided to investigate instead of defend, the Queen of Naboo, feeling for her suffering people, decided to begin a process of impeachment against the Chancellor, with a "no-confidence" vote. Senator Palpatine, having many friends, became one of the nominees. The result was his being elected to Supreme Chancellor of the Republic, thus replacing the former Chancellor Valorum. However, before Palpatine's victory was complete, Amidala, Jinn, and Kenobi returned to Naboo, where they faced Maul once more. The Dark Lord managed to kill Qui-Gon, but Obi-Wan, in great anger, killed Maul, after catching him by surprise. And so, Darth Sidious/Palpatine needed to find another apprentice to continue the Sith line.
There was good news. Anakin Skywalker, a slave whom Qui-Gon had found and freed on Tatooine, had a secret not even he himself knew about. As a blood-test confirmed, his midi-chlorian levels were unsurpassed and unheard of. Also, another mystery was wrapped around him. Young Skywalker had no father. Soon, it was believed that he was concieved by midi-chlorians, themselves. Chancellor Palpatine secretly watched the young padawan as he was trained by Kenobi. Anakin soon became a hero, as he was a daring and ace starpilot and foremost in various other things. However, during this time, Palpatine's other personality, Darth Sidious, was secretly meeting with Anakin, preaching about and seducing the young Jedi with the Dark Side. As Skywalker became more and more evil, his universe that he lived in, was becoming more and more evil, as well. As Supreme Chancellor, Palpatine became even greedier than ever. So, one day, he suddenly pronounced himself as the Empire of the Galactic Empire, which spanned the entire galaxt. Then, to stifle all opposition, the new Emperor disbanded the Galactic Senate. As Emperor, he had great powers over things, and soon he began to lure in the now Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker with promises of power and wealth. As everyone realized the true meaning of the new Empire, so did Anakin Skywalker. As he turned more and more towards the ways of the Dark Side, his former master, Obi-Wan Kenobi, confronted him near a lava pit. Here, the two fought, upon which Anakin fell into the pit. Obi-Wan, greatly saddened, believed that his friend was dead and went back home. However, a badly burned, barely living, and very much angry Anakin Skywalker was rescued by the Emperor. Agreeing to turn to the Dark Side and become the Emperor's apprentice, Anakin was filled with the magic of Sith by the Emperor. To replace his badly burned body, Anakin was encased in a cybernetic suit, complete with all the life-sustaining capabilities and blaster-proof plastoid armor. Anakin requested the black color and the cape, to turn his image into a menacing one, completing his journey to the Dark Side and becoming the Dark Lord of the Sith, Darth Vader.
Together, the two great Dark Lords waged a furious war against the Jedi of the entire galaxy, initiating the Great Jedi Purge, in which they killed almost all of the Jedi in existence. As he did, he also expanded his Empire, researching new and greater technology and recruiting more and more people. As one of his most abominable deeds, he built an enormous cloning facility on the planet Byss. Perhaps becoming paranoid, due to the effects of tapping into vast amounts of the Dark Side as he had, he surrounded himself with personal bodyguards: the crimson Imperial Royal Guards; a personal assassin: Mara Jade; and of course, his loyal apprentice: Darth Vader.
Unknownst to the Emperor, Anakin's wife, Queen Amidala of Naboo, had two children, Luke Skywalker and Lei Skywalker. She and Obi-Wan decided that they should hide them from their dark father, and so, Luke was sent to his father's brother's place, Uncle Ben and Aunt Beru. There, he became a second-hand on a moisture farm on Tatooine. The daughter, Leia Skywalker, was sent to Alderaan and adopted by Senator Bail Organa, one of the candidates of Chancellorship. Leia Skywalker became Leia Organa thus did the two Skywalker children become hidden.
Then, a small group of people banded together to form the Rebel Alliance, vowing to brign down the Empire, which was the cause of so much distruction of the galaxy. The leader was Mon Mothma, a wise and graceful senator who distrusted Palpatine from the beginning. The Emperor ordered the Rebellion crushed and would not accept failure. However, the Rebel Alliance gradually grew larger, and failures became common. The Emperor did not accept failure lightly and killed everyone who was responisble for failure. He put his apprentice, Darth Vader, in charge. Vader, too, would not accept failure, and a great many admirals felt his wrath as they were choked to death, by the strong grip of Dark Side. As this small band of rebels grew, more and more people joined it, including the son and daughter of Skywalker, and Han Solo. The Emperor felt a disturbance in the Force, along with Darth Vader. After much investigation, the Emperor learned that Vader had a son, Luke Skywalker, who had joined the Rebellion. This was the opportunity for more power which the Emperor wanted. The Emperor believed that if he could turn Luke to the Dark Side, his power would grow even stronger, as he could feed of of two Skywalker's Force powers. He ordered Vader to get his son to turn to the Dark Side. But what he didn't know, was that Vader already knew that he had a son and he had always been plotting to overthrow the Emperor with his son, as the next Dark Lord of Sith. And this, the Emperor did not foresee. Darth Vader also made a mistake. He assumed that his son would willingly join him. But, when Darth Vader confronted Luke and told him the truth about his father and invited the young Jedi apprentice to join him and rule the galaxy, the young Skywalker, remained true to the teachings of his master, the great Jedi Master Yoda. And so, the startled Darth Vader, could not bring himself to kill the young Jedi, his son. Later, when Skywalker was brought to the Emperor, he was electrocuted by the Emperor's Force Lightning. But, as he was being electrocuted, Luke managed to plead to his father to save him. The Dark Lord of Sith heard, and the tiny part of his mechanical heart which was still human, took over his body. Shrugging off the immense pain of electrocution, Darth Vader picked up the Emperor, who was too busy seething in rage to notice the change in his apprentice, and threw him down a deep ventilation shaft.
The Rebellion rejoiced at this and the New Republic came about. However, unknown to many, Palpatine had a secret cloning chamber on the planet Byss. And there, he had utilized Sparti Cloning Cylinders left over from the Clone Wars. The Emperor had the foresight to clone himself: he had millions of young clones of himself, that he had created for such a disaster. Just before his bodily death, Palpatine, using ancient Sith magic, transfered his soul to one of these clones. And so, six years after his "death", Palpatine reappeared with a new army and waged war, using even more destructive weapons such as the Galaxy Gun, against the New Republic. When Luke Skywalker, promising to destroy the Empire from within, came to him, the Emperor took advantage of the young Jedi. This time he succeeded in turning Skywalker to the Dark Side, but only temporarily. Skywalker was turned back to the Light Side and counter-attacked. Luke confronted him in a final duel, while Han Solo destroyed the cloning facility on Byss. The Emperor, knowing his time had come, made a final bid for life and tried to jump into the body of Anakin Solo, one of the two Solo twins standing near Luke at the time of his death. But the brave, but dying King (????) forced the Emperor into his own body, in order to save the child. And thus, Emperor Palpatine, aka Darth Sidious, was no more.
Darth Maul ???th Sith Lord
Born as Khameir Sarin, a Zabrakian, on the planet of Iridonia, he showed great strength, stamina, and most of all, a strong attunation to the Force. When Darth Sidious went out looking for an apprentice, he found Sarin, at the age of 12, on Iridonia. At that young age, Sidious began training the young Zabrakian in the ways of the Force, Dark Side of course. He also taught him the ancient black arts of Sith. Becoming a greatly adept with the Force and martial arts, Darth Sidious was pleased and granted Khameir Sarin as a Dark Lord of Sith. Sarin promptly took on an alias, becoming forever known as Darth Maul. From there, he painted his face with black and, in red, tatooed devilish designs on it. His horns, trademark of all Zabrakian, only added to his menacing image.
His dangerous mentality only grew, as he continued to train in the ways of the Force and delve in the dark religion of Sith. On the side, Darth Maul constantly trained himself in martial arts, obsessed with becoming the best fighter in the history of Sith. His ambition grew to embrace learning how to fight with a lightsaber, as he made his own. Although he closely followed many Sith traditions and protocols, Darth Maul still wanted more. And soon, he built a double-bladed lightsaber, and constantly trained himself to wield the novel weapon with deadly accuracy, getting better each time. Never, would a person be able to wield such a weapong, unless completely dedicated to the ways of the Sith. And this, Maul did. With his complete and utter dedication to the Dark Side, Maul became an expert at the double lightsaber and brought the Dark Side of the Force to master the dangerous skill. Besides his complete devotion to martial arts, he was also an absolutely loyal Apprentice, never one to fail and never with an exception, until death. He would give his entire time and effort to completing and achieving the objectives laid out for him at the beginning of the mission. And thus, seeing this devotion, Darth Sidious entrusted Darth Maul with even the most delicate of missions, since he knew that Darth Maul was not one to fail, nor one to lose.
Darth Maul first appeared to the public during the trade embargo of Naboo. Here, he was the quiet, but ever-dangerous apprentice of Darth Sidious, the menacing influence of the vast Trade Federation. Then, the Galactic Senate sent two ambassadors to Naboo; Jedi Knight Qui-Gon Jinn, and his Padawan, Obi-Wan Kenobi. When the Head of the Trade Federation, the Nimoudian Nute Gunray, told Sidious of this new threat, the Dark Lord ordered the two ambassadors killed. But before the security droids could finish the job, the two Jedi hid among the invasion force and landed on Naboo. After landing, the two Jedi found themselves hunted men, since Gunray had sounded the alarm that the two were missing on the battlecruiser. The two evaded the droids and came to the Naboo palace, rescuing the Queen. From there, the party left and entered outer space, only to meet the huge Trade Federation blockade. Soon, the tiny royal transport was hit, since, thousands of laser bolts rained upon them. But a brave R2 unit (R2-D2), fixed the ship, as fellow droids were sent off, flying into space, by laser bolts. Thus, the ship escaped and went to Tatooine.
Sensing failure, Darth Sidious sent his Dark Lord apprentice to seek and destroy the two Jedi. Darth Maul found and cornered the entire party on the planet of Tatooine, and fought a brief lightsaber duel, which Qui-Gon instantly began to lose. But, in the nick of time, the newly-found Anakin Skywalker went on board telling the ship to take off. The Jedi managed to escape by jumping up on the closing landing ramp of the Naboo royal ship. An angry Maul, knowing the taste of failure, was then sent by Darth Sidious to Naboo, to keep an eye on the leaders of the Trade Federation. However, Jinn and Kenobi were also headed to Naboo, to bring back the queen of Naboo and to free the planet from Federation control. As the small Naboo army prepared to enter the palace, the enormous doors mysteriously opened. There, standing in the middle of the huge doorway, was Darth Maul, himself. Finally, the Sith had revealed itself to the Jedi. And, to Maul, finally, would the he exact revenge upon the Jedi, avenging his ancestors for their deaths at the hands of the Jedi. And so, at the starfighter hanger, did Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi encounter Darth Maul once more. But, no sooner had they wielded their lightsabers, Darth Maul presented his lightsaber. To the curious eyes of Jinn and Kenobi, the Dark Lord held his lightsaber in one hand and held it out to the two Jedi. To their amazement, a second blade came out the other end. And in this fashion, did Darth Maul present his double-bladed lightsaber for the first time.
In the duel, Darth Maul held his own against the two Jedi simultaneously. Reaching a series of timed force-field doors, Maul waited until Kenobi was trapped in one of them and then struck down Jinn, smiling inwardly, as he saw the young Jedi apprentice watching his master die. Once the force-field opened, an enraged Kenobi charged the Dark Lord, attacking with more ferocity than ever and ended up cleaving Maul's lightsaber in two. Darth Maul promptly threw away one side of it and used the remaining half like a regular lightsaber. And then, after ferocious attacks on his part, he made Obi-Wan lose his balance and fall into an incinerator pit. In the fall, Kenobi lost his lightsaber, but, by luck, he caught ontal a small, portruding knob and held on. The Dark Lord maliciously tortured the young Jedi Knight, showering him with sparks, as he slowly scraped his lightsaber against the pit wall. After hanging there for minutes, the Jedi Kniht, using the Force, jumped out of the pit, retrieving Qui-Gon's lightsaber in mid-air. He landed right in front of the Dark Lord, catching him by surprise. Taking advantage of that shred of a second of sheer startlement, Kenobi cut him in half, sending the Dark Lord of Sith's body tumbling down a ventilation shaft. Thus ended the reign of Darth Maul.
Darth Vader ???th Dark Lord of the Sith
Born as Anakin Skywalker to Shmi Skywalker, his birth was a mystery wrapped around him. The reason for this was that Anakin had no father. It was believed that he was concieved by midi-chlorians, themselves. As later discovered by the Jedi Knights Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker had a midi-chlorian count at a shockingly high level, unsurpassed in history. At age 3, Anakin and his mother moved to Mon Espa Tatooine, where they were sold as slaves to Gardulla the Hutt. But at a routine Pod Race, Anakin and Shmi were given to Watto, a Toydarian junk dealer, because Gardulla had lost the bet on the Pod Race. Since he was very adept mechanically, Anakin soon became Watto's most prized slave. His reflexes were faster than anyone had seen (due to his Force abilities, he was able to see events before they occurred). Along with his mechanical skills, he was a very skilled pilot, which the greedy Watto soon found out. At the age of 9, Anakin entered his first podrace. However, Sebulba, the reigning champion acted too aggressively for the young racer, and, to much of Watto's chagrin, Anakin lost the race and his podracer destroyed. Watto, incredibly angry, worked him harder than ever, whereupon Anakin worked even more diligently. However, Anakin had begun to secretly build his own podracer. And when Jedi Knight Qui-Gon Jinn, Padme Naberrie, and Jar Jar Binks came to Watto's Junkyard to find a new hyperdrive, the Jedi came upon Anakin, who showed him the podracer, and his droid, C-3PO.
The Jedi Qui-Gon Jinn took a midi-chlorian count of Anakin. When it came back as incredibly high, he knew that this boy was not a coincidence. Fate had led him to Tatooine and to Anakin. They were meant to meet and, surely, as Jinn thought, Anakin was to become a Jedi. But how? After all, he was a slave to a junkyard. Qui-Gon thought that if perhaps Anakin could race and win, he could be gambled out of his slavery. The greedy Watto agreed with a little resistance, sinec Jinn was offering the beautiful Naboo royal spaceship. And so, Anakin entered the famous Boonta Eve Pod Race on Tatooine. After a few heart-pounding moments, the race was won by Anakin Skywalker. But, with his freedom, came the realization that his mother was still in bondage. With great reluctance, the young boy left his mother, vowing to come back and rescue her. He left with his new friend, Qui-Gon Jinn. On his way, his first encounter with the Dark Side occured. The Dark Lord of Sith Darth Sidious had decided that it was time to reveal themselves. And so, the first appearance of the Sith for more than four millenia came with Sidious' apprentice, Darth Maul. Maul attacked the vulnerable Jedi Knight, as he made his way back to his ship with Anakin. As the battle began, Anakin watched the duel spellbound, until Qui-Gon, getting a brief moment of breathe, ordered him onto the ship. Jinn barely escaped, however, by jumping onto the ship's landing platform, as it was lifting off.
Anakin went with the Jedi Knights and the Queen of Naboo to Coruscant. Here, as the Queen pleaded for help, Anakin accompanied Jinn and Kenobi to the great Jedi Temple. Here, Jinn decided that his apprentice Obi-Wan Kenobi was ready for full Jedi Knighthood. Upon doing so, he claimed Anakin Skywalker as his new padawan, even if the revered Jedi Council did not permit him. He stubbornly believed that Anakin was the Prophesized One. The Council began to do a series of tests on Anakin to see if he was ready for padawanship. Anakin aced all of them. However, the great Jedi Master Yoda saw great fear inside Anakin. He warned the others, including Jinn, that fear led to the Dark Side and that Anakin Skywalker had alot of fear inside of him. While the Jedi Council decided upon Anakin's fate, he went to Naboo, with the two Jedi and the Queen. There, he accidently took part in the battle, by flying a Naboo starfighter into the enormous Federation battlecruiser. Inside, he accidently released two torpedoes, which homed its way to the power generator and thus, destroyed the main battlecruiser. By managing to knock out the generator of the main Federation cruiser, he blew up the battle droid control computer and saved his friends on the ground. And thus, the battle was won, because of Anakin. When a heart-broken Obi-Wan Kenobi returned, without his master, the Jedi Council had made its decision. After a lecture by Yoda to Obi-Wan, the Council granted Anakin Skywalker apprenticeship to Obi-Wan Kenobi. And so, Kenobi trained the young padawan in the ways of the Light Side of the Force. Soon, however, the great Clone Wars erupted, shattering the lives of many. A great many Jedi were killed, as were other innocent civilians. When the Republic declared war on the Mandalorians, it called to arms many people. Anakin, lusting for the adventure and excitement that the war would bring, joined with the thousands of Jedi warriors in the fighting. He shone among the many pilots because of his extraordinary skills as a brilliant starpilot and fighter. As hero of the war, he married his long-time friend, Queen Amidala. Together, they lived happily, as he trained further in the ways of the Force and she governed her rebuilt world, once again. But then Supreme Chancellor Palpatine declared himself the Emperor of the Galactic Empire. The Empire attracted many, including Anakin, with promises of glory and power.
Anakin did not heed the warnings of Kenobi and Master Yoda and dabbled in the Dark Side. He thought himself strong enough to resist the Dark Side on his own. However, like so many others Jedi, Anakin was wrong. He was contacted by Darth Sidious and became the seventeenth Dark Lord of Sith, Dark Lord apprentice to Dark Lord Darth Sidious. Obi-Wan Kenobi believed that Anakin Skywalker had indeed turned into a menace and could not let it go further. And so, Kenobi confronted Anakin, begging him to return to the Light Side, showing him how far away he was from his friends and family. However, Anakin would not listen and soon, the two were engaged in a lightsaber duel. The young Anakin Skywalker was no match for the veteran warrior, Obi-Wan Kenobi. As the two battled, Kenobi knocked Anakin into a lava pit. The saddened friend of Skywalker, Obi-Wan, walked away, full of grief and sorrow, thinking his old friend was dead. However, a badly burned and injured Anakin Skywalker crawled out of the pit, barely alive and burning with hatred and anger. The Emperor came to the rescue, promising Skywalker life, if he would accept the Dark Side and join him in the conquest of the Empire. Anakin accepted, vowing to take his revenge on the Jedi. The Emperor took Anakin and encased him in a suit of cybernetics. Anakin ordered special blaster-proof plastoid armor and the color black. And when he put on the suit, he became the menace which Obi-Wan Kenobi had feared he would become. Standing tall and evil in his black suit and flowing cape, Anakin Skywalker also rejected the name Anakin Skywalker and took the alias, Darth Vader.
Meanwhile, however, Anakin's wife had had two twins, Luke Skywalker and Leia Skywalker. Amidala and Kenobi agreed to have them hidden, sending Luke to his uncle Lars and aunt Beru's moisture farm on Tatooine, and Leia to Alderaan, to Senator Bail Organa. Now, as the Emperor's second-in-command, Darth Vader, with his master, hunted down each and every Jedi in the galaxy, called the Great Jedi Purge, trying to exterminate the entire order of Jedi forever. However, some escaped, such as Obi-Wan Kenobi and Yoda, and they went into hiding, to fight again at a later time. Soon, a Rebellion occured. The Emperor's long-time opponent, Mon Mothma had decided that the Empire had gone too far, being a racist and sexist one. And so, the Rebel Alliance came about, growing and growing. Soon, their first major attack on Emperor Palpatine's Empire was at Yavin IV, attacking the first Death Star. Darth Vader actively participated in this battle, shooting down every starfighter who tried to blow up the battlestation by shooting torpedoes into the main reactor core. But, the pirate and smuggler Han Solo shot a TIE fighter wing-guard, who was knocked off course and crashed into Darth Vader's prototype TIE fighter. Thus, Vader was sent flying off into space, wihtout any control. And only then, did Luke Skywalker manage to use the Force and guide the torpedoes into the core, destroying the Death Star.
As soon as Darth Vader regained control of his craft, he wen tback to Imperial Center (Coruscant), where he had to face the wrath of his master. Later, remembered that he had felt a strong Force power emanating from Luke and set out to find the pilot's true identity. After an investigation, he learned that the pilot was his son, Luke Skywalker. Vader immediately adaped him into his life-time scheme. When he had come into league with the Emperor, he had vowed to come to the top, destroying his master, and ruling the galaxt himself. Now, with his son in existence, he decided that, since there were always two Dark Lords in existence at a time, that his son would become the next Dark Lord. Together, they would rule the galaxy together and together they destroy the Emperor. Deciding to wipe out the Rebellion and catch Luke at the same time, Vader made an excuse out of trying to find the Rebellion, while trying to find his son. Finally, after finding the Rebels on the ice planet of Hoth, Darth Vader trapped Luke in the mining colony on the gaseous planet of Bespin, where, after a brief, one-sided lightsaber duel, he cut off Luke's hand. He told him the brutal truth about his parentage and told him how much the Emperor feared him. Calling it his destiny, Vader asked his son to join him in conquering the galaxy. But, his son was not as easily seduced as Vader was. Refusing to be seduced by Vader's visions of power, Luke chose instead to fall into the Bespin's cast trash chute and die. But, by sheer luck, he fell into a smaller trash chute, but then fell out into the atmosphere, where he hung on to small metal rods. Thinking he was dead, he decided to call out to Leia for help. Miraculously, Leia heard and she, Chewbacca, and Lando Calrissian returned in the Millenium Falcon and rescued the young Skywalker.
Knowing the taste of failure, Darth Vader became obsessed with his new mission. He began scheming again to trap his son once more, turn him to the Dark Side, and rule the galaxy together. But meanwhile, Luke had returned to his Jedi Master, Yoda, and asked him the truth. Both Yoda and Obi-Wan's spirit confirmed that Darth Vader was indeed his father. And so, as the prophecies foretold, he had to confront Vader. Luke Skywalker let himself be captured on the moon of Endor because then, once meeting his father, he would be able to turn him back to the Light Side. But both of them did not realize the other's potential to refuse. And so, since he knew that his master would be listening in, Darth Vader took Luke prisoner and brought him before Palpatine on the second Death Star. There, on the Death Star, the Emperor let Luke watch his friends, the Rebels fight a losing battle outside. Since the vision would cause great anger, throught this, did the Emperor again try to seduce Luke. The Emperor also wanted Luke for himself. He had felt the great power in Luke and decided that Luke would indeed be a better servant than Vader. Although he had detected Luke's Force abilities, he had not detected Vader's desire for Luke as well. He pitted the two against each other, deciding to grab the victor as his new servant, knowing that it would most surely be Luke. When Vader touched a soft spot (Luke's sister), Luke exploded in hatred and lashed out from his hiding. With his lightsaber, he pounded his father with all his might, his strength heightened by growing rage. Finally, he chopped off the hand of Darth Vader. He paused a moment, which the Emperor, thinking that he was saying the right thing at the right time, complimented the angry Luke on his anger and telling him to finish off Darth Vader and take his father's place by his side.
And so, this was the Emperor's folly, turning Luke back to the Light Side and saving Darth Vader from certain death. Luke realized, with shock, at what he had done and how he had done it. He repented and cleansed himself from the Dark Side anger that flowed through him. Luke controlled his anger and refused to yield, throwing his lightsaber away. Palpatine, now seeing that this Jedi was too stubborn for his use, grew angry. In his rage, released Force lightning into Luke's body, preparing to kill him. As the lightning seeped through him, Luke cried out to his father to save him. Emperor Palpatine did not notice Vader's looks between him and Luke. He had not counted on Darth Vader as an enemy. After all these years, the one tiny portion of his mostly mechanical heart took over Darth Vader, as he saw his son dying at the hands of his master. Gritting his teeth against the excruciating pain of electrocution, Darth Vader picked up the Emperor and threw him down a ventilation shaft, and into the main reactor core of the Death Star. And so, Anakin Skywalker came back to life. As he knew it would Palpatine's lightning bolts short-circuited Darth Vader's cybernetic suit. His son thanked Vader, and brought him to a shuttle. As he lay dying in the arms of his son, Vader conceeded that Luke was right. Unlike the most of the former Dark Lords of the Sith, some good had still remained in Darth Vader until the end. And so, the great Darth Vader redeemed himself and Anakin Skywalker became one with the Force in the hands of his son, on the second Death Star.
